Nauticast X-Pack US AIS System The X-Pack US has been developed by Nauticast, one of the world’s top players within the AIS market. This company has several years of experience with the Automatic Identification System technology and has a proven competence of thousands of AIS transponder units already installed worldwide on SOLAS vessels. Port Safety and AIS Technology AIS is increasing security by increasing maritime domain awareness, especially regarding vessels operating in US ports. AIS allows identification and tracking of vessels not available through voice radio communication or radar as the AIS transponder communicates vessel’s static ship data (including call sign and name, vessel type and length), dynamic ship data (including position, course over ground and navigational status) and their dynamic voyage data (including type of cargo, destination, route and estimated time of arrival). This allows the operator to take on the perspective of his neighboring vessels, to see what they see, and to virtually participate in their maneuvering activities. US carriage requirements The Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 requires that self-propelled commercial vessels falling into a certain category (e.g. over 65 feet in length or passenger vessels certified to carry more than 149 passengers) install and use AIS by December 31, 2004. The X-Pack US meets these requirements and allows simplified self installation. The X-Pack US was designed to fulfill the special, stringent but simplified requirements of all smaller crafts not falling under the SOLAS convention. Its “plug and play” installation functionality and superb price-quality ratio make it the perfect choice for ship-owners falling nto the non-SOLAS category of boats to be equipped by December 31, 2004. In addition, this solution provides proven Class A functionality and includes all necessary accessories for installation by meeting minimal requirements in a normal workboat-environment. Best possible service and reliability are guaranteed by strict quality control in U.S. based manufacturing and qualified customer support. The X-Pack US kit consists of: AIS Transponder Unit, GPS Antenna, VHF Antenna, Antenna cable for connecting both antennas to the transponder, AIS cable for power connection and optional ECDIS interface, mounting facility, 115/220VAC to 24 VDC power supply, full product and installation documentation. 1 year limited warranty.
