Jotron Tron SART20 (Search & Rescue Radar Transponder) GMDSS is purposely designed to aid search and rescue operations.  For increased owner flexibility & probability of a successful mission, Radar SART and the AIS-SART can both be used as “search and rescue locating devices” according to IMO SOLAS Amendment in Resolution MSC.256(84).  Mandatory carriage equipment for ships 300 gross tonnage and over.

Jotron Tron SART20 and the AIS-SART can now both be used as “Search and rescue locating devices” according to IMO SOLAS Amendment in Resolution MSC.256(84) giving the ship owner full freedom to choose either product as required by SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 2.2. Complies with IMO/SOLAS/GMDSS regulations. MED and FCC approved.

If the SART is scanned (hit) by a 9GHz X-band radar signal (after activation in case of emergency), it will immediately transmit a signal back that clearly shows the location of the accident on the radar screen of nearby vessels. The TRON SART20 has an operating range of 10 nautical miles from a vessel and up to 30 nautical miles from an airborne response unit.
