European Account Manager – Germany

Mackay Communications is a $80 million dollar marine electronics service company with 325 employees in twelve (12) countries. We are seeking a Business Development Manager to serve as primary account manager for shipping companies based in and around Germany and report to our Managing Director – European Operations, in Rotterdam, NL.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as Mackay’s primary account manager for shipping companies based in and around Germany. This includes traveling to, and building business relationships with, shipping firms based in Germany, UK, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
  2. Focus on increasing sales to those shipping companies whose vessels make regular calls into assigned area.
  3. Promote and sell Mackay’s key marine-electronics products. This includes ship-board service, equipment, parts, and satellite airtime.
  4. Build relationships with clients through attentive service; facilitating inquiries and ensuring client satisfaction with Mackay services and products.
  5. Make sales calls; generate and present quotations; conduct follow up.
  6. Help organize and accommodate sales visits to assigned region by Mackay executives.
  7. Responsible for roughly 75 accounts; submitting monthly sales report; and attending trade shows.

Prerequisites:

• 5+ years of successful marine experience
• 2+ years in a Sales environment
• Technical expertise and experience.  Good working knowledge of bridge electronics is a pre.
• Self-motivator works well with minimum supervision
• Fluency in English required, other languages are beneficial.
• Effective communicator, will phone and e-mail interact with many departments.
• Enthusiastic and flexible with a “whatever it takes” mentality.
