Marine Electronics Technician – Antwerp

Mackay Marine is currently seeking an experienced Marine Electronics Technician, who is proficient in English and with the skills and qualifications below for our location in Antwerp, Belgium.

Marine Electronics Technician Job Overview:

Under limited supervision, Marine Electronics Technicians (aka ‘technician’ or MET) install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board commercial ships. METs test, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as load, update, and modify software.  Marine Electronics Technicians use their knowledge of radio frequencies (RF), electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems and make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the assignment, technicians compose a detailed service report.

Qualifications:

  • A University degree or equivalent technical certifications.
  • 3 years of experience as a MET or ET in commercial shipping.
  • Must be proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement preferred
  • GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred
  • Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying 9-14 kgs., climbing ladders/masts, and exposure to weather.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
