Mackay Marine has one opening for an experienced Marine Electronics Technician (MET) with the skills and qualifications outlined below in our Panama location.

Marine Electronics Technician Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Marine Electronics Technician (MET)  will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. The technician will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as to load, update, and modify software. The MET will utilize his/her knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems and make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completion of the service order, the MET will compose a detailed service report.

Marine Electronics Technician Requirements

  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
  • 3+ years of experience as an MET in commercial shipping or the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
  • Technical Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
  • Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
