Marine Service Technician – Houston

Mackay Marine has openings for experienced Marine Service Technicians (MST), also known as an Electronics Technician (ET), for our ‘Houston’ depot in Deer Park, TX.

Marine Service Technician Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the Marine Service Technician (MET) installs, services, and repairs electronic equipment on board ships. MSTs will test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as to load, update, and modify software. Marine Service Technicians utilizes his/her knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems and makes intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the job, the MST composes a detailed service report.

Marine Service Technician Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as an MET or ET in commercial shipping or the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation is required.
