Marine Service Technician – Spain

Mackay’s depot in Spain is currently seeking an experienced Marine Service Technician who fluent in English and has the skills and qualifications listed below.

Marine Service Technician Job Overview:

Under limited supervision, the technician will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. Test, adjust, and troubleshoot electronic components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas.  Load, update, and modify software.  Use knowledge of radio frequencies (RF), electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They will make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the assignment, the technician will compose a detailed service report.

  • ECDIS
  • Satcoms
  • HF and VHF Radios
  • GPS
  • Gyrocompasses
  • Autopilots
  • Sounders

Marine Service Technician Qualifications:

  • A University degree in engineering, or equivalent technical certifications.
  • 3+ Years of experience as a Marine Service Technician in the commercial shipping industry.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application
  • GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license.
  • Physically Fit — Work environment often involves carrying 9-14 kg., climbing ladders/masts and exposure to weather.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Spain.
