Marine Service Technician – St Johns, NL

Mackay is currently seeking an experienced Marine Service Technician (MST) for our St. John’s, NL location. Individuals who have the experience and qualifications listed below are encouraged to apply.

Marine Service Technician Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, the technician will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. Test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas. As well as, loading, updating, and modifying software. Utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They will make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments and upon completion, compose a detailed service report.

• Satcoms
• HF and VHF Radios
• GPS
• Gyrocompasses
• Autopilots
• Sounders

Marine Service Technician (MST) Requirements:

• 3+ Years of Marine Service Technician or Marine Electronics Technician experience in commercial shipping.
• Associate degree (two years of college) or equivalent training and experience.
• Possess strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Must achieve a minimum score of 74 percent on basic electronics test administered by Employer.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement & GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Must be proficient in English (speak, read, and write).
• Overtime work and travel may be required due to location of job and for training courses.
• Must have valid drivers license and reliable transportation.
