Project Estimator

Mackay’s Commercial Sales team currently has an opening for an experienced Project Estimator in our Deer Park, TX office.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience in the maritime industry as well as the skills and qualifications outlined below.

Project Estimator Job Summary:

 The primary responsibility of the Project Estimator is to assist our Commercial Sales team by identifying all project costs and preparing estimates that are both competitive and profitable.  The Project Estimator is also responsible for understanding customer specifications and tracking the project expenditures and keeping all parties apprised.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
• To compare and negotiate prices and terms from selected competing vendors to ensure Mackay’s bids are as competitive as possible.
• The Estimator will be required to identify and learn a host of alternative products to compose the most attractive overall solution and bid.
• Will populate the ‘Master Quote’ with costs related to Project Management, console construction, installation, labor, freight, or any other charges as required.
• Will track and report the financial savings or bid improvements he/she initiated for evaluation purposes.
• Will always follow Mackay’s policies and procedures.
• Will also abide by internal procedures related to Purchase Orders, Sales Orders, RFQ’s, securing credit terms, quote review, and recordkeeping.

Project Estimator Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred or a combination of college courses and relevant experience.
2. 3+ Years of project estimation experience.
3. 3+ Years’ experience in marine electronics and equipment.
4. Must possess excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset.
5. Advanced proficiency with Excel, must be adept at creating and modifying complex formulas.
6. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
7. Organize detailed and proprietary information on a professional and confidential level.
8. Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
