Mackay Marine Leer (DE) Team Joins Collaborative Maritime Expo at University of Applied Sciences

Coming full circle! After graduating a decade ago, colleagues Ramona Hartmann & Helge Berckemeier from Mackay’s Leer, Germany office, were invited by hosts from their alma mater, the MARITIME College at the University of Applied Sciences Emden/Leer to participate in a cooperative event, May 15, 2025.

This unique Maritime Exhibition offered a dynamic platform for students, professors, and industry professionals to engage in meaningful dialogue about maritime education and innovation.  Providing students with a real-world perspective helps to bridge the gap between academic studies and practical application.

Mackay Marine’s team joined several other technology firms, sharing professional opportunities, Mackay’s long history & global presence as a bridge navigation electronics provider, and enjoyed discussion about how technology has greatly impacted the increasingly integrated industry.  It was encouraging to field many inquiries from bachelor and master’s students pursuing Maritime Engineering & Management degrees; representing a very diverse global student community.

Professor Marcus Bentin (Dean of Studies) graciously arranged a tour through the research department, highlighting their commitment to advancing maritime technology and sustainability. The dedicated Maritime Technical Center is a collaborative intersection between the university, research firms and commercial enterprises.
