Over the Counter (OTC) Sales Specialist – Rio

Mackay is currently seeking a fulltime and experienced Marine Over the Counter (OTC) Specialist who is proficient in English, to work onsite at our Rio location. Individuals with the skills and qualifications outlined below are encouraged to apply.
OTC SPECIALIST JOB SUMMARY
The OTC Specialist is an onsite, non-managerial position which reports to the Managing Director for Brazil. The responsibilities of the OTC Specialist include but are not limited to communicating directly with our customers to answer questions concerning the availability, price, and use of merchandise as well as providing technical guidance, timely quotations, and comprehensive proposals. Will process over-the-counter transactions, special orders, phone-in and internet sales orders as well as inter-company transfers. Will support other team members, customers and company accounts with parts ordering and fulfillment to support our business.
Responsibilities will also include material handling and shipping/receiving of goods which includes physical lifting, handling of boxes, pallet jacks and may include activities on ladders, lifts, forklift, power tools, hand tools, carrying and moving of parts and equipment.
OTC SPECIALIST JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Acts as the point of contact for customer sales, service, and information requests to ensure that customer needs are fulfilled with speed and professionalism.
- Assist in the research of basic technical issues on products and service. Collect symptoms of customer problems and facilitate repairs.
- Assist with incoming sales prospects or customer calls when outside sales staff are out of the office.
- Provide customer quotes, proposals, and will follow up in a timely manner.
- Build the business by identifying revenue opportunities within the marine industry.
- Assist with the shipping and receiving functions to help facilitate the trafficking and accountability for all materials received and delivered for customer orders, inventory, repairs, or for internal use.
- Direct service requests the appropriate team member.
- Maintain work area and stockroom in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Read customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed and/or shipped using Mackay’s ERP system.
OTC SALES SPECIALIST SKILLS NEEDED:
- Prior knowledge of Marine electronic equipment is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as product brochures, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
- Attention to detail and ability to organize materials effectively and efficiently.
- Excellent customer service, communication (both oral and written), organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
OTC SALES SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years of post-secondary education.
- Electronics and/or marine background preferred.
- Three years of inside or counter sales experience.
- Good computer and Internet skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
