Mackay Marine Hamburg, a long-time expansion goal of Mackay Marine, will become a reality on July 15, 2013. Mackay’s newest Marine Service Center will open with six employees including a Manager, Service Coordinator/Office Administrator, and four Mackay Service Technicians; reporting to Nick Pope, located at Mackay Marine Rotterdam, NL.
The Mackay Hamburg Manager, Michael Slachcinski, is superbly qualified. Originally forming his own marine sales & service company in Hamburg (1991), by winning Tokyo Keiki’s Germany distributorship, Slachcinski added other brands, including JRC, Furuno, and Thrane/SAILOR. Within seventeen years, Michael built his firm up to 25 employees before partnering with, and eventually selling the office in 2006, to Radio Holland (forming RH-Germany).
Kerstin Reincke, Mackay Service Coordinator, served as a commodities broker and forwarder for nearly twenty years. She worked for Slachcinski at a marine electronics firm in Kiel for the past two years.
Mackay Marine currently enjoys a high level of service business worldwide from the many premier fleets based in Hamburg, Germany. As these relationships have grown, several German ship-owners have encouraged Mackay to open in-country, to ensure more personalized response, local stock, and improved understanding of their service requirements and expectations.
Germany is Europe’s largest economy and is heavily driven by exports and global trading; with Hamburg serving as one of the major shipping capitals of the world.
