Business Development Manager – Hong Kong

Mackay’s Hong Kong location is seeking a Business Development Manager who has an entrepreneurial spirit, passion for sales, and initiatives to grow Mackay’s footprint and revenues.

Business Development Manager Overview:

The Business Development manager is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business relationships with shipping firms and other potential customers in Hong Kong and surrounding areas.  This position reports to the President of APACME.

Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as Mackay’s primary account manager for shipping companies which includes traveling to and building business relationships with firms based in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other Chinese shipping capitals.
  2. Develop a pipeline of new business by prospecting for new clients by networking, cold calling, researching, identifying, and meeting potential customers to grow, maintain, and leverage your network.
  3. Possess thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and the company’s competitors.
  4. Promote and sell Mackay’s key marine-electronics products, including ship-board service, equipment, parts, and satellite airtime.
  5. Build relationships with clients through attentive service, facilitating inquiries and ensuring client satisfaction with Mackay services and products.
  6. Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.
  7. Plan sales approaches and use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate properly.
  8. Generate and present proposals or quotations that speak to the client’s needs and objectives, conduct follow-ups.
  9. Help organize and accompany sales visits by Mackay executives.
  10. Responsible for roughly 75 accounts; submitting monthly sales report; and attending trade shows.

 Qualifications:

  • Must be authorized to work in Hong Kong.
  • 3+ years of marine electronics experience
  • 3+ years in a Sales environment
  • 4-year bachelor’s degree.
  • Technical expertise and experience. A good working knowledge of bridge electronics is preferred.
  • Fluency in English required, other languages are beneficial.
  • Effective communicator; will interact with many departments and individuals in person, or via phone and/or e-mail.
