Business Development Manager – Hong Kong

Mackay Communications, Inc. is a global marine electronics and satellite communications company employing 320 people spread across 40 service depots in 13 countries. Mackay does business with 800 customers worldwide with the largest concentrated in India, APAC, and the Middle East.

Mackay is seeking a Business Development Manager (BDM), who is fluent in English, for our Hong Kong location.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

The Business Development manager is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business relationships with shipping firms and other potential customers in Hong Kong. We are seeking someone with an entrepreneurial spirit, passion for sales, and initiatives to grow the Mackay footprint and generate revenue for the company. This position reports to the Director of Sales – Asia & Middle East.

Business Development Manager Responsibilities:

  1. Serve as Mackay’s primary account manager for companies based in Hong Kong and China. This includes traveling to, and building business relationships with, shipping firms based in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and other Chinese shipping capitals.
  2. Focus on increasing sales to those shipping companies whose vessels make regular calls into these areas.
  3. Develop a pipeline of new business by researching, identifying, and meeting potential customers to grow, maintain, and leverage your network.
  4. Possess thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and the company’s competitors.
  5. Promote and sell Mackay’s key products and services. This includes ship-board service, equipment, parts, and satellite airtime.
  6. Build and maintain relationships through attentive service; facilitating inquiries and ensuring client satisfaction with Mackay services and products.
  7. Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.
  8. Plan sales approaches and use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate properly.
  9. Generate and present proposals or quotations that speaks to the client’s needs and objectives, conduct follow ups.
  10. Help organize and accompany sales visits to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China by Mackay executives.
  11. Responsible for roughly 75 accounts; submitting monthly sales report; and attending trade shows.

 Business Development Manager Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of marine electronics experience
  • 2+ years in a Sales environment
  • College degree.
  • Technical expertise and experience. Good working knowledge of bridge electronics is preferred.
  • Self-motivated, works well with minimum supervision
  • Fluency in English required, other languages are beneficial.
  • Effective communicator will interact with many departments and individuals via phone and e-mail.
