Marine Service Technician Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, Deep Sea Marine Service Technicians install, service, and repair marine electronic equipment onboard commercial shipping and and naval ships while in port. Technicians test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas as well as to load, update, and modify software. Marine Service Technicians utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They also make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments and upon completion, compose a detailed service report.

Marine Service Technician (MST) Requirements:

3+ Years experience as a Marine Service Technician or Marine Electronics Technician in the commercial shipping industry.

Two years of college in a relevant field or equivalent training and experience.

Possess strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.

Must achieve a minimum score of 74 percent on basic electronics test administered by Employer.

Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement & GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.

Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.

Must be proficient in English (speak, read, and write).

Overtime work and travel may be required due to the location of the job and for training courses.

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
