The focus of the visit was to better understand Mackay’s VDR (Voyage Data Recorder) technical capabilities and how we can support VDR safety investigations, particularly VDR data extraction. This joint meeting was inspired by Mackay’s prior assistance with a past TSIB VDR investigation.
A comprehensive presentation & discussion included:
A productive afternoon ensued for both parties; garnering insight on Mackay’s breadth of resource expertise and Mackay’s appreciation of effective investigative expectations.
The ministry’s Marine Safety Investigation delegation, led by Capt. Xiao Shouhai (Deputy Director) & Capt. Dorothy SIM (Investigator) also included current & new TSIB investigators. Mackay Singapore’s participants were Mohamed Nabil, Gen’l Manager SE Asia, Hong Kong & Australia, Reynor Canon, Service Manager & Desingu Ganesan, CSE, all with years of VDR service, inspection & installation experience.
Mackay Marine Singapore looks forward to contributing our expertise in future TSIB investigations. Many of Mackay’s other regional locations can similarly provide like-services.
